Ken, thank you for that additional information. I will bring attention to it in a post. I'm going to find his email and see if he will respond to my thoughts.

Senator Schumer is at it again blaming brokered deposits. This time it's in regards to Indymac.

<a href="http://theimbreport.com/?p=158" rel="nofollow">Indymac's corporate blog post</a> goes into detail debunking this claim.

I too agree with "Poirier will write a follow-up article that is not based primarily on the opinion of one politician " what Charlie Murphy has said in his comment.

I agree the article written by John Poirier is poorly researched. It would have been better written to interview a few bankers for their point of view. For example in my local market National City and Countrywide banks have been advertising CD specials that hurt our ability to attract new business without out paying excessive premiums for the business. The "CD Brokers" offer us one alternative to the national market at respectable rates. Hopefully Poirier will write a follow-up article that is not based primarily on the opinion of one politician.

You're right on Chris. This appears to be another example of a journalism student trying to make a splash as a financial reporter. The writer's conclusions as to cause and effect are backwards and naive. This misinformation is very unfortunate.
